This Murano glass brain occupies a position
between sculpture and lamp. Suspended on a metal mount and illuminated from
within, it is both an object to contemplate and a source of light. The brain, established
in Kogler’s practice as a figure of thought and networked consciousness, here
literally radiates. That the vessel of cognition should become a lamp feels
like a philosophical statement: an invocation of the Enlightenment ideal of
knowledge as luminosity, made tangible in a single intimate object.
