Biography

Amy Thai (1992 – Australia)

Driven by a quest for mastery in specialized craft traditions, Amy Thai pursues her artistic development in the world's most renowned centres of material excellence. Her explorations have taken her to Carrara to select and hand-carve marble blocks, guided by each stone's unique veining and character; to Murano to collaborate with Galleria Barovier&Toso and master glassblowers on imposing glass pieces; and to Jingdezhen, China's 'Porcelain Capital', to study porcelain techniques. Throughout her exploration of diverse materials, Thai draws inspiration from botanical forms, creating a dialogue between nature's transience and permanence. Her practice continues to evolve as she seeks out new materials and craft traditions to expand her artistic vocabulary.
