Peter Kogler
13 x 5 1/2 in
Peter Kogler’s iconic ant motif finds new
expression in Murano glass, where the creatures are embedded using ‘murrine’,
tiny glass medallions that are one of Murano’s most venerable techniques,
appearing suspended within the form of Kogler’s vase-like tubes. One of the
artist’s most enduring motifs, the ant, an ancient symbol of collective
organisation, division of labour and communication, is multiplied within the
glass and evokes the dynamics of swarm behaviour and decentralised systems that
run through Kogler’s work.
